Johor Lama is a wonderful historical place to visit. In 15th century, it was a prosperous harbour and ships from Portugal that first came to Asia stopped at this port. Today, Johor Lama is a little quiet fishing village that has its own interesting and unique heritage.
Close to Johor Lama village also lies a small island that becomes home to many egrets. Daily, at around 7 to 8 p.m., hundreds of egrets would fly back to this island. Holiday makers can rent a boat to watch egrets and also to cruise along the Johor River and see interesting sites such as Senai Desaru bridge, Kubu Budak (children fort) and visit other villages nearby such as aborigines village.
Holiday makers group can also rent a home close to the beach or rooms in floating raft and spend quiet time fishing. The fishing charge for 1 day and 1 night is RM20 and room renting is RM20/ person. Rooms are to be shared with others.
